About the Role

The Practice Operations Manager will be a blended clinical and administrative role responsible for the overall day-to-day operations, development, and success of the Palliative Care division. This position works with Empath Community Health Leadership to develop business strategies, manage budgets, and oversee daily operations including scheduling, productivity, billing, and collections. The role ensures business needs are met, efficiencies are achieved, and actively recruits new patients while serving as a liaison for growth and promoting the full-life care model.

The clinical responsibilities include supporting the psychosocial needs of palliative team patients. The social worker completes psychosocial assessments for each patient and family, providing medical social work services and case management based on patient and family needs. The role assists patients and families in maximizing the benefits from palliative care services.

Responsibilities

  • Implement Empath Health Medical Services and Palliative Care policies and procedures to ensure efficient and organized practice operations (supporting human resources, medical records, payroll, etc.).
  • Design, develop, or revise Palliative Care policies and procedures in collaboration with Empath Medical Services Leadership.
  • Develop business strategies, efficiencies, and high-quality patient services in partnership with leadership and team members.
  • Act as a liaison with physicians, nurse practitioners, and other medical practice employees to ensure oversight and necessary support.
  • Assist the Medical Director with the implementation of practice and department budgets.
  • Oversee financial operations for assigned practice locations, including analyzing financial reports, invoice approval, office leases, contract files, vendor relations, and resolving billing issues.
  • Oversee daily practice operations, including scheduling, billing procedures, debt collections, and policies and procedures.
  • Analyze daily workflow of clinical practice staff and implement changes as necessary in partnership with the leadership team.

Requirements

  • Master of Social Work (MSW) degree from a school accredited by the Council on Social Work Education.
  • At least one year of social work experience in a healthcare setting (the one-year Master’s level internship qualifies).
  • Current Florida LCSW license or registered as a Registered Intern actively working toward licensure.
  • Minimum of three years of mid-level practice administration or related management experience.
  • Medical practice manager certification (e.g., CPPM) preferred.
  • Knowledge of Hospice, Palliative, or Primary care practice operations is a plus.
  • An equivalent combination of professional experience and education may be considered.
