Essential Responsibilities/Skills/Functions

  • Grant coordination.
    • Maintain documentation on expenditures and the purpose for expenditures.
    • Ensure spending is maintained within budget.
    • Maintain all appropriate documentation related to the goals and outcomes of the program.
  • Academic Support and Coaching:
    • Maintain confidential records on student tutoring and outcomes through academic success plans.
    • Provide individualized and small group tutoring in nursing course content and clinical application to promote critical thinking and clinical reasoning skills.
    • Analyze student exam performance to identify issues with test taking and study skills to provide targeted strategies to improve exam performance.
    • Deliver workshops, seminars, and other programs tailored to nursing student needs in understanding nursing content, clinical reasoning, and critical thinking.
    • Use the college's NCLEX preparation platform to monitor student readiness and offer targeted remediation.
    • Aid students in developing personalized NCLEX-LPN study plans and provide ongoing support for preparation for testing.
    • Assist students in identifying and implementing reasonable academic and other accommodations as appropriate in compliance with federal guidelines.
    • Screen, accept, or deny accommodation requests based on appropriate documentation and/or the request's impact on the fundamental and essential elements of the course or program.
    • Review documentation of disability and determine reasonable and appropriate accommodations for all students with disabilities.
    • Provide direct service to self-identified students based on disability.
    • Assist faculty with implementation of and understanding of accommodations for each student and each course, in compliance with individual plan and ADA regulations.
    • Initiate communication with faculty to discuss questions or concerns regarding the implementation of accommodations and provide guidance in determining reasonable accommodations.
    • Provide test proctoring for students with accommodation needs.
    • Maintain confidential files on persons with self-identified disabilities.
    • Keep current information regarding disabilities services for students, staff, and visitors; to include websites, printed materials, student handbooks, faculty handbooks, etc.
    • Participate in professional development activities to stay current with improved methods of service delivery and new technology and aids.
    • Collaborate and communicate with course faculty to identify student knowledge gaps and ensure information presented to students is consistent with course content.
    • Partner with faculty in developing academic success plans, monitoring student progress, and adjusting plans.
    • Refer students to appropriate campus resources for mental health, learning accommodations, financial aid, and other support services.
    • Maintain regular communication with academic advisors, administrators, and student services.
    • Serve on committees and assist on special projects as assigned.
  • Collaboration and Communication:
    • Monitor student progress and document the support provided.
    • Partner with course faculty to identify student knowledge gaps and ensure information presented to students is consistent with course content.
    • Partner with faculty in developing academic success plans, monitoring student progress, and adjustments of plans.
    • Refer students to appropriate campus resources for mental health, learning accommodations, financial aid, and other support services.
    • Maintain regular communication with academic advisors, administrators, and student services.
    • Serve on committees and assist on special projects as assigned.
  • Position Specific Requirements:
    • Excellent technical skills, including electronic teaching resources, presentation skills and Microsoft Office.
    • Excellent interpersonal skills.
    • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
    • Valid PA Driver's License.
    • Understanding of best practices in student coaching, learning strategies, and academic support programming.
    • Strong problem-solving ability; serves as advisor/consultant to faculty and students.
    • Identifies resources to assist students in learning content.
    • Availability to work some evening hours for the evening program, workshops or special programming.
    • Strong organizational skills, time management, and attention to detail.
    • Education & Experience:
      • Current RN License required.
      • BSN required.
      • Minimum of three (3) years of recent clinical experience in an acute care setting.
      • Experience in health settings outside acute care.
      • Experience with tutoring or teaching in an educational setting or clinical area.
      • Experience with NCLEX-style questions.
      • Skilled in academic coaching and mentoring.
      • Experience working with English as Second Language students.

Pay

$65,550 - $78,660 per year - salaried, exempt

Schedule

Monday- Friday; 37.50 hours per week including some evenings; 12 months per year
