Power Plant Mechanic - National Center for Employee Development (NCED)
About the role
As a Stationary Equipment Technician, you will be responsible for the operation, repair, maintenance, and installation of various machines and equipment. This includes diagnosing mechanical, electrical, and plumbing problems and taking corrective action. You will also provide customer assistance by resolving questions, problems, or complaints regarding equipment.
Responsibilities
- Thoroughly inspect, maintain, and change cylinders on various gases located in the cylinder room.
- Repair all types of valves, traps, separators, strainers, and other plumbing devices, including fixtures.
- Perform cutting and threading of pipes, sweating of copper tubing, and other plumbing connections (flared, compression, PVC, Vic, etc.).
- Perform general carpentry and construction duties as assigned.
- Conduct minor electrical work.
- Maintain dishwashers, steam kettles, and various gas appliances.
- Maintain critical inventory, including tools, to keep operations running.
- Complete preventative maintenance as scheduled and keep records of work performed.
- Maintain a friendly, efficient, and positive customer service attitude toward customers, clients, and co-workers.
- Anticipate and respond to customer needs.

Requirements
- Diploma or certification in a related field or two (2) years of relevant experience.
- High school diploma or G.E.D. required.
- Previous experience as a Stationary Equipment Technician or in a related role preferred.
- Experience using multi-meters, ammeters, soldering, brazing, and electrical component wiring.
- Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal.
- Strong organizational skills, accuracy, and attention to detail.
Physical Demands
- Lifting, bending, pushing, pulling, and/or extended walking and standing.
- May require uniforms and/or usage of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
