About the role
This job is being posted across two skill levels. Applicants will be considered for the higher of the two levels in which they qualify.
Responsibilities
- Repairs, inspects and maintains boiler and boiler auxiliaries, turbine/generator and turbine/generator auxiliaries, and/or maintains coal handling equipment and auxiliaries, as applicable.
- Performs equipment alignment.
- Performs necessary pipefitting related maintenance.
- Operates various industrial equipment (i.e. forklift).
- May perform necessary welding-related maintenance.
- Performs general craft tasks and uses power and hand tools.
- Reads and interprets drawings and prints.
- Operates various machine shop equipment.
- Works with other craft and plant personnel as required.
- Complies with all safety and regulatory requirements, both internal and external.
- Utilizes SAP/PM system for equipment history and verification of work performed.
- Continually develops knowledge and understanding of plant principles and processes.
- Continually seeks process improvement to save cost and increase efficiency.
- Flag for review and update bills of materials and task lists on an as needed basis.
Requirements
- Level II: Associate's Degree in a mechanical discipline, And 1 year experience in a mechanical field; Or High School Diploma/GED And 3 years experience in a mechanical field; Or Prior military experience for at least one enlistment as documented on DD Form 214, And 2 years experience in a mechanical field. A certificate of completion from a vocational trade institution in a mechanical field is equivalent to 1 year of mechanical experience. Experience must include 1 year experience in a power plant or other process controlled environment including oil/gas/chemical refining and/or processing or manufacturing.
- Senior: Associate's Degree in a mechanical discipline, And 5 years experience in a mechanical field; Or High School Diploma/GED And 7 years experience in a mechanical field; Or Prior military experience for at least one enlistment as documented on DD Form 214, And 6 years experience in a mechanical field. A certificate of completion from a vocational trade institution in a mechanical field is equivalent to 1 year of mechanical experience. Experience must include 3 years experience in a power plant or other process controlled environment including oil/gas/chemical refining and/or processing or manufacturing.
Working Conditions
- May be required to work overtime and weekends and holidays.
- May be required to work non-standard work schedules to include on-call and call-outs.
- May require travel.
- May be required to work at heights up to and exceeding thirty (30) feet, underground and in confined spaces.
- May be exposed to extreme conditions and inclement weather.
- Required to work in a multi-craft crew including Mechanics, Electricians, Insulators, Instrument & Controls Technicians, etc. who work together to support operations of the plant.
- May be required to cross-train in various crafts and operation department at various times of the year.

Special Safety Requirements

- The operation, maintenance or oversight of critical services and infrastructure including but not limited to, electric utilities, power generation or distribution;

- Demonstrated ability to adjust and adapt across varied working conditions and evolving business needs.
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of safety requirements and the use of personal protective equipment.
- Demonstrated mechanical aptitude and familiarity working with mechanical equipment (e.g. pumps, electric motors, air compressors, valves, welding, fabrication, construction, pipe fitting, etc.).

- Level II: $75,046 - $93,746
