Powder Paint Prep Operator - 1st shift
About the role
The Paint Prep Operator operates phosphatizing equipment (power washer/spray wand) to prep parts for painting. Operates power hand tools such as: hand grinder, dual action (da) sander and wire wheels. Ability to work with phosphatizing chemicals is a must. Ensures that all parts are prepared prior to painting to ensure paint adhesion.
Responsibilities
- Operates phosphatizing equipment on an assortment of products.
- Sets up and maintains equipment.
- Ensures products are correctly prepared.
- Works in a manner in which quality of work and safety are top priorities.
- Maintains a neat, clean and organized work area while performing paint prep duties.
- Notifies direct supervisor of any equipment or tooling that is damaged or not working properly.
- Maintains accurate records of time and quantities, etc.
- Operate powered industrial truck (forklift) and overhead crane(s).
Requirements
- Must have ability to read and speak English.
- Lifting: Occasional up to 20lbs. Seldom up to 100 lbs.
- Carrying: Occasional up to 10 lbs.

- Occasional cart use
- Gripping
- Depressing trigger on the spray wand
- Power tool use
- Standing / Walking: Continuous on concrete floor
- Sensory Perception: Requires ability to feel the surface of parts prior to ensure proper paint adhesion.
- Vibrating power tools (Grinder, sander)
- Respiratory: Must be able to pass OSH required testing for respirator needed for this department. May include use of a ½ mask cartridge respirator.
