Line Operator, Powder Paint - 1st Shift

About the role

As a Powder Paint Line Operator, you will contribute to Wenger Corporation’s strategy of delivering an exceptional customer experience by reading bills of materials, loading and unloading parts, setting and stripping the line, and placing materials on an overhead conveyor—all while maintaining a strong focus on safety and quality.

Responsibilities

• Load and unload product and tooling from the overhead conveyor line
• Inspect parts for defects
• Assemble products and perform quality tests
• Mask and plug parts according to the bill of materials and shop drawings
• Assist with output, quality, and productivity, and recommend improvements as needed
• Complete ERP transactions
• Perform ‘End of the Line’ part inspections and properly place finished goods
• Package, label, and palletize parts for assembly or shipping
• Identify ways to improve line density, capacity, fixturing, and packing methods
• Complete preventative maintenance tasks
• Provide backup support to Paint Technician, Industrial Painter, and/or Material Handler
• Suggest enhancements to work instructions to ensure quality conformance
• Assist in training new team members
• Adhere to PPE requirements and maintain a clean, orderly work area

Requirements

• Physical ability to stand for entire shift, with full range of arm and shoulder movement, considerable bending, and ability to lift 50 lbs.
• Basic equipment knowledge and computer skills
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Ability to multi-task with minimal supervision
• Ability to apply mathematical techniques to calculate data or solve practical problems
• Experience using tools and machines to complete assigned work
• Ability to understand and apply written and verbal communication in work situations
• English proficiency (speaking, reading, and understanding) to ensure safety compliance and operational needs
• HS Diploma or GED (preferred)

• Continuously required to sit, stand, walk, talk, and hear
• Occasionally required to kneel, crouch, squat, bend, twist/turn, and climb ladders/stairs
• Continuously required to use hands and fingers to handle or operate machines, tools, or controls
• Continuously required to reach with hands and arms
• Occasionally required to view a computer monitor and perform repetitive keyboard motions
• May continuously lift, move, push, or pull up to and over 50 pounds
• Vision requirements include close vision, depth perception, color vision, and ability to adjust focus
