Paint Prepper - 1st Shift

About the role

The Paint Prepper performs a variety of tasks in support of manufacturing and production of concrete mixer and refuse truck parts and bodies. Responsibilities include preparing parts and equipment for paint by removing previously applied paint, cleaning, degreasing, smoothing surfaces, and masking unpainted areas. Strong attention to detail is required to ensure high-quality preparation for the next stage in the manufacturing process.

Responsibilities

• Wash, clean, and wipe down vehicles to be painted.
• Remove and replace components as required for painting and sanding.
• Mask, paper, or grease components when appropriate.
• Operate necessary equipment (dual action hand sander, electric lifts, etc.).
• Use basic hand tools and small power tools for prep work prior to painting.
• Perform minor bodywork and maintain the condition of vehicles or components throughout the paint process.
• Train and work in various production areas in response to production demands.
• Identify, safely handle, and appropriately dispose of materials.
• Maintain attention to detail to adhere to quality standards.
• Maintain a safe and clean work environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
• Complete initial and annual hazardous waste handler training as required by EPA RCRA regulations (40 CFR 265.16(d)(1-3)).
• Understand waste hazards, storage time limits, satellite accumulation, marking, labeling, weekly inspections, aisle space, storage, manifest shipping, emergency equipment use, spill/fire response, and evacuation routes.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED.
• One (1) year of applicable position experience.
• Experience using hand tools.
• Ability to follow all safety and compliance regulations.
• Enjoys working in a team environment.

Skills

• Read, write, and comprehend simple instructions, correspondence, and memos.
• Read and interpret safety rules, operating/maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Read, analyze, and interpret business manuals, technical procedures, and government regulations.

Working Conditions

Physical Demands:

• Frequent: Standing, walking/running, sitting, reaching, hearing, talking, visual tasks, typing.
• Occasional: Climbing, driving, bending/kneeling, fine and manual dexterity, lifting/carrying up to 25 lbs., pushing/pulling up to 25 lbs.

Non-Physical Demands:

• Occasional: Analysis/reasoning, communication/interpretation, math/mental computation, reading, sustained mental activity, writing.

Environmental Demands:

• Occasional: Working alone, frequent task changes, tedious/exacting work, exposure to dust, temperature extremes, loud noises.

Work Schedule: Routine shift hours with infrequent overtime, weekend, or shift rotation.

Demands/Deadlines: Occasional stress due to deadlines or workload fluctuations, or exposure to distressed individuals.

Pay

$20 - $24.70 per hour.
