JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS
A postdoctoral position in public health/clinical informatics in healthcare is immediately available with close collaboration with the Department of Neurology focusing on cerebrovascular diseases using high-dimensional and multi-faceted data. The primary research involves developing prediction models for stroke using electronic health record data enriched with social determinants of health from multiple institutions, supported by NIH funding.
- Required Education and Experience:
- A PhD in statistics/biostatistics, public/population health, bioinformatics, computer science, or another relevant field, or an MD (or MD, MPH) with experience working with big data.
- Familiarity with R and one or more other programming languages, such as Python, Perl, C++, JAVA, or MATLAB.
- Strong scientific writing skills, demonstrated by at least two first-author and four co-author publications.
- The ability to independently learn and think in a dynamic and decentralized environment, as well as collaborate effectively on multiple ongoing projects.
- Position Requirements:
- Attention to detail and strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
- Geographic proximity to Hershey Medical Center/Penn State College of Medicine is necessary for in-person activities, but the position offers opportunities for hybrid work.
- The postdoctoral scholar will be expected to author publications resulting from their research and will receive mentored opportunities to obtain independent grant support in later years.
This is a limited-term appointment funded for one year from the date of hire. Employment will require successful completion of background checks in accordance with University policies.
