About the role
The Department of Mechanical and Nuclear Engineering in the College of Engineering at Virginia Commonwealth University is seeking a Postdoctoral Research Associate - Particle Tech.
Responsibilities
- Develop and expand technical skill set in aerosol particle science and technology.
- Contribute to research projects involving the generation and measurement of test particles, instrumentation calibration, particle filtration, and particle deposition in human airways (i.e., inhalation aerosol).
- Work and collaborate with scientists and faculties in the College of Engineering, including potential teaching responsibilities.
- Interact with scientists in industries.
Requirements
- Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related fields.
- Experience in experimental research in aerosol particles.
- Ability to mentor junior team members and ensure laboratory safety.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work in multi-disciplinary teams.
- Experience working under tight deadlines and short turnaround times.
- Experience working in and fostering an environment of respect, professionalism, and civility.
Qualifications
- Strong background in own major field for Ph.D. degree and thesis research in particle science and technology.
- Preference given to candidates with research experience in inhalation aerosols, particle filtration, generation of particles by electrospray technique, and calibration of aerosol instruments.
