Position Summary

We seek an energetic individual with doctoral-level academic training in Environmental Epidemiology, Environmental Psychology, or related disciplines who has experience and interest in studying the interrelationships between environmental chemical mixtures during pregnancy and adversities and resilience factors in the context of long-term depression in mothers and neurodevelopmental and mental health outcomes in children. This individual will have the opportunity to work with data from the Maternal and Developmental Risks from Environmental and Social Stressors (MADRES) cohort that enrolled over 1000 pregnant women in Los Angeles, CA.

Job Description

  • Trains under the supervision of a faculty mentor including (but not limited to):
    • Aids in grant preparation and reporting.
    • Prepares and submits papers on research.
    • Aids in the design of research experiments.
    • Evaluates research findings and assists in the reporting of the results.
    • Conscientious discharge of their research responsibilities.
    • Maintains conformity with ethical standards in research.
    • Maintains compliance with good laboratory practice including the maintenance of adequate research records.
    • Engages in open and timely discussion with their mentor regarding possession or distribution of material, reagents, or records belonging to their laboratory and any proposed disclosure of findings or techniques privately or in publications.
    • Collegial conduct towards co-trainees, staff members and members of the research group.
    • Adheres to all applicable University policies, procedures and regulations.

Education

  • Required Qualifications:
    • Ph.D., M.D. Or Equivalent Terminal Or Doctoral Degree.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Doctorate degree in epidemiology (environmental preferred) or a related field.
  • Solid proficiency in biostatistical and epidemiologic methods for chemical mixtures and related software packages, including R, SAS, Python or equivalent.

Salary Range

Base pay is commensurate with experience.
