About the role

The Department of Epidemiology and Cancer Control at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital seeks a highly motivated Postdoctoral Research Fellow to join the laboratory of Dr. Yadav Sapkota. This position focuses on pharmacogenomics of long-term toxicities of cancer therapy in childhood cancer survivors. Projects include genetic association analyses, multi-omics and system genetics studies, and evaluation of health disparities through pharmacogenomics.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct genetic association analyses (whole genome and whole exome sequence associations and polygenic risk scores) for various long-term health outcomes among survivors of European and African ancestries.
  • Analyze multi-omics (genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, and metabolomics) and system genetics (e.g., eQTLs regulating molecular responses to cancer therapies in human induced pluripotent stem cells) data to elucidate molecular mechanisms for health outcomes.
  • Evaluate health disparities through pharmacogenomics.

Requirements

  • PhD or equivalent degree in genetics, epidemiology, biostatistics, bioinformatics, or a related quantitative field.
  • Strong publication record.
  • Strong research interests in genetic epidemiology, pharmacogenomics, statistical genetics, or population genetics.
  • Experience in statistical and computational analyses of high-throughput omics data.
  • Ability to code in one or more scientific programming languages (e.g., R, Python, C/C++).
  • Excellent communication and writing skills.
