Postdoctoral Research Associate
About the role
This Postdoctoral Research Associate, Cotton Jassid Integrated Pest Management, will focus on developing integrated pest management strategies for cotton jassid, emphasizing microbial control agents, including entomopathogenic fungi and entomopathogenic nematodes, and evaluating their compatibility with generalist predators.
Responsibilities
- Evaluating microbial insecticides for cotton jassid management
- Assessing compatibility between microbial control agents and natural enemies
- Conducting laboratory, greenhouse, and field efficacy trials
- Collaborating on AI-assisted pest monitoring technology development
- Publishing research findings and presenting results at scientific conferences and extension events
- Performing other duties as assigned
Requirements
- Appropriate doctoral degree
- Demonstrated experience in biological control and integrated pest management
- Experience with molecular techniques, including DNA/RNA extraction, primer design, PCR, and molecular diagnostics
- Knowledge of entomopathogenic fungi and microbial insecticides and different delivery mechanisms
- Knowledge of molecular trophic interaction analysis
- Knowledge of genomics, bioinformatics, or next-generation sequencing approaches
- Knowledge of grant writing and proposal development
- Knowledge of controlled-environment agriculture systems
- Ability to communicate effectively
- Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others
- Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
