About the role
Texas A&M University's Department of Chemistry is seeking a Postdoctoral Research Associate to conduct advanced research in the field of radical S-adenosylmethionine (SAM) enzyme biochemistry and mechanism.
Responsibilities
- Conducts specialized research in the area of radical SAM enzyme biochemistry and mechanism.
- Employs protein overexpression, anaerobic methods for protein purification, and various bioanalytical tools to assess protein purity and properties.
- Utilizes electron paramagnetic resonance spectroscopy and other spectroscopic approaches to study enzymes of interest.
- Pursues in vivo studies to evaluate enzyme localization and function as needed.
- Analyzes research data, summarizes results, and writes/contributes figures to research papers, articles, publications, and funding proposals.
- Collaborates with other researchers and/or faculty on project objectives.
- Maintains laboratory equipment and workspaces; ensures routine maintenance of specialized laboratory equipment.
- Affords assistance, mentoring, and/or supervision to undergraduate student researchers and/or graduate students working on research related to the project.
- Promotes a safe, compliant, and collaborative learning environment within the research group.
- Prepares comprehensive presentation materials covering individual research topics and/or relevant scientific literature for delivery to small and large groups.
- Participates actively in the preparation of required technical progress reports for research sponsors.
Qualifications
- Appropriate PhD in a related field.
