About the Lab

The He Lab in the Department of Basic Medical Science focuses on understanding:

• The development of insulin resistance and increased liver glucose production contributing to hyperglycemia in patients with obesity and type 2 diabetes;
• The impairment of mitochondrial dynamics/activity and its role in causing liver steatosis;
• The molecular mechanism underlying trans-generational obesity.

Our research employs molecular and cellular biological techniques, combined with knockout and knock-in mouse models.
