About the role

The Department of Child Health at the University of Arizona College of Medicine-Phoenix seeks a Postdoctoral Research Associate to join the Pulmonary Hypertension laboratory of Dr. Laszlo Farkas. The lab focuses on understanding the molecular and immunological mechanisms of pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH), with an emphasis on the role of endosomal dysfunction and its protein interactions in pulmonary vascular remodeling and immune responses.

Responsibilities

  • Utilize mouse and rat models of pulmonary vascular disease and human cell-based systems to investigate the impact of RAB7 deficiency via the RNA binding protein CSDE1 on pulmonary vascular dysfunction, inflammatory signaling, and disease progression.
  • Contribute to the development and execution of experiments aimed at elucidating the mechanisms underlying PAH.
  • Mentored in career development towards becoming an independent researcher and future principal investigator.

Requirements

  • PhD, MD, or PhD/MD degree with expertise in cardiovascular and pulmonary biology.
  • Experience in molecular and cellular biology techniques.

Qualifications

  • Strong background in cardiovascular and pulmonary biology.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
