About the role
The Whipple Laboratory seeks a postdoctoral researcher to study the molecular functions of small nucleolar RNAs (snoRNAs), with a focus on orphan snoRNAs in neuronal systems. The successful candidate will lead projects to identify and characterize the targets and molecular mechanisms of neuronally expressed orphan snoRNAs.
Responsibilities
- Lead projects to identify and characterize the targets and molecular mechanisms of neuronally expressed orphan snoRNAs.
- Integrate transcriptome-wide mapping of RNA–RNA interactions, CRISPR-based perturbation approaches, and functional assays to define how snoRNAs engage RNA targets and regulate gene expression at the post-transcriptional level.
- Collaborate with other researchers to develop and implement cutting-edge technologies and computational methods to advance understanding of snoRNA function.
Requirements
- Recent Ph.D. in a relevant field (e.g., biochemistry, molecular biology, genetics).
- Demonstrated research productivity through peer-reviewed publications.
- Strong experimental background in RNA biology in mammalian systems.
- Experience with high-throughput sequencing techniques (e.g., CLIP-seq, RNA-seq, Ribo-seq) and familiarity with or interest in computational analysis of sequencing data.
Qualifications
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Interest in gene regulation, computational biology, and neurobiology.
Skills
- Expertise in RNA biology and mammalian systems.
- Familiarity with high-throughput sequencing techniques and computational analysis.
- Ability to design and execute complex experiments.
- Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
Benefits
- Collaborative and interdisciplinary environment.
- Access to state-of-the-art genomics, imaging, and computational resources.
- Career development support, including fellowship applications and transition to independent positions.
Pay
The salary range for this position is $60,000 - $70,000 per year.
Schedule
The position is full-time and permanent.
