About the role

The Thakor Research Group at the University of Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada, invites applications for a postdoctoral fellow position in RNA biology. This project focuses on investigating the regulation of mRNA translation (protein synthesis) in stress and cancer, building on the lab’s expertise in molecular and cellular biology with applications to human health.

Responsibilities

• Conduct research on mRNA translation regulation in stress and cancer models.
• Perform mammalian tissue culture, RNA library preparation, gene expression analysis, and sequencing data analysis.
• Collaborate with internal and external research groups.
• Prepare scientific publications and presentations.

Requirements

• PhD in molecular biology, cellular biology, or a related field.
• Solid publication record in molecular and cellular biology.
• Proficiency in mammalian tissue culture, RNA library preparation, and sequencing data analysis.

Qualifications (Assets)

• Experience with human stem cells, tissue microarrays, pre-clinical cancer organoids, or mouse models (xenograft/syngeneic).
• Eligibility to apply for NSERC or CIHR postdoctoral fellowships.
