About the role

Details of Research Project: Evaluate neuronal control of macrophage function in the heart. The candidate will use fundamental science tools to test how the nervous system regulates macrophage function and biology in the heart. The candidate will test how neurotransmitters and neuropeptides modify macrophage subsets and inflammatory processes in the heart and its vasculature at steady state, after myocardial infarction, during atherosclerosis, or in the context of other cardiovascular pathologies.

Responsibilities

Technical Duties:

• Mouse modeling and handling
• Flow cytometry
• Advanced confocal imaging of the heart
• Single cell sequencing
• Neuronal manipulation methods (e.g., neuronal ablation, neuropeptide deletion, brain circuit manipulation)
• Molecular assays (e.g., protein quantification, mRNA expression)

Goals/Outcomes of the Research Project

We will identify new ways by which the nervous system regulates inflammation in the cardiovascular system. Novel signaling mechanisms will be further developed and tested for therapeutic intervention.

Pay

The salary range for the role is $72,500 - $80,000 annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, education, and operational need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay, or other forms of compensation or benefits.
