Postdoctoral Associate, Amyloidosis Center, Boston University Chobanian Avedisian School of Medicine
The Position
The Boston University Amyloidosis Center is seeking an experienced scientist to join our diverse, interdisciplinary team, working to understand and develop new treatments for systemic amyloidosis.
Responsibilities
- Apply a range of approaches including protein biochemistry and cell biology to model systems and patient samples.
- Identify biological mechanisms of disease that can be targeted by novel therapeutics.
- Translate identified knowledge into potential drug candidates.
- Design and perform high quality, innovative research.
- Publish peer-reviewed articles and compete for external funding.
Requirements
- 3-5 years of experience
- Bachelor's Degree
- PhD
Qualifications
Desired experience includes:
- Tissue culture, including flow cytometry, toxicity assays and generation of stable cell lines.
- Recombinant antibody production and characterization, ideally from mammalian cells.
- Protein characterization by biophysical methods such as spectroscopy, crystallography or electron microscopy.
Skills
Demonstrated experience (ideally publications or preprints) in one or more of the following areas is highly desirable:
