Working Title: Post-Retirement Benefit Adjustment Analyst

Pay: $6,031.00 - $7,547.00 per month. New to State candidates will be hired into the minimum salary of the classification or minimum of alternate range when applicable.

Schedule: Permanent, Full Time. Hybrid telework available (up to 40% / two days remote per week).

Work Location: Sacramento County.

Effective July 1, 2025, a 3% pay reduction applies in exchange for 5 hours of Personal Leave Program 2025 (PLP 2025) leave credits monthly. The salary range does not reflect this reduction.

About the Role

CalPERS is seeking a detail-oriented Analyst II to join the Retirement Benefit Services Division. This mission-driven team values integrity and quality service, delivering accurate benefits to California’s public employees and their families. Under the direction of a Supervisor I, the Analyst II addresses post-retirement service retirement inquiries, completes service retirement adjustments, and calculates retirement benefits to ensure timely and accurate final payments for CalPERS retirees.

Responsibilities

• Research, analyze, and complete a full range of benefit calculation-related assignments.
• Resolve complex member and employer-initiated inquiries.
• Work with stakeholders to obtain required information for processing service retirement adjustments.
• Partner with other CalPERS program areas to verify the accuracy of membership enrollment and compensation reporting.

Qualifications

Applicants must meet the Minimum Qualifications (MQs) listed on the Classification Specification. Education may be used to meet MQs; transcripts are required if using education from outside the United States. An evaluation of foreign degrees for U.S. equivalency may be required (visit the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services for providers).

Statement of Qualifications

Responses must be typed, titled “Statement of Qualifications,” numbered, and include relevant experience, education, and training (places of employment, dates, and duties). The SOQ must not exceed one page.

• Describe your experience performing calculations and working with numerical data. Include the types of calculations you performed, the tools or systems you used, and the steps you took to ensure accuracy.
