Service Retirement Benefit Processing Analyst

Job Description and Duties

Under the direction of the Supervisor I, the Analyst I is responsible for addressing service retirement inquiries, completing service retirement estimate requests, and calculating retirement benefits to ensure CalPERS retirees receive a timely and accurate benefit payment.

• Researching, analyzing, and completing a full range of benefit related assignments
• Resolving outstanding eligibility requirements
• Working with stakeholders to obtain required information needed to process service retirement calculations
• Pricing with other CalPERS program areas to verify the accuracy of membership enrollment and compensation reporting

Qualifications

The Analyst I is responsible for:

• Proficient in the use of personal computer and ten-key calculator
• Proven organizational skills and ability to manage multiple workloads within short time frames
• Desire and ability to produce accurate work product
• Knowledge of mathematical concepts to calculate retirement benefits
• Ability to appropriately apply current laws, rules, policies, and procedures
