Retirement Analyst
About the role
The Retirement Analyst position at Tampa Electric is a key role within the company's HR department. This role provides analytical, operational, and compliance support for the retirement benefits program, including defined benefit pension and defined contribution 401k plans.
Responsibilities
Plan Administration and Operations - 40%
- Administer and support defined benefit and defined contribution plans, including eligibility, contributions, distributions, and participant inquiries.
- Cook up day-to-day operations with actuaries, recordkeepers, and third-party administrators.
Compliance & Governance - 25%
- Support regulatory compliance activities, including nondiscrimination testing, audits, and required filings.
- Maintain documentation and support internal and external audits and DOL Form 5500 filing.
Employee Experience & Communications - 25%
- Develop/deliver communications to improve employee understanding of retirement programs.
- Aid in retirement readiness through tools and resources.
Projects & Continuous Improvement - 10%
- Lead or support retirement-related projects such as plan changes, system enhancements, vendor management initiatives.
- Identify opportunities to improve processes, streamline administration, and strengthen governance.
Qualifications
Education Required:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, or related area of study from an accredited institution.
Licenses/Certifications Preferred:
- Society of Human Resources Manager (SHRM) Certification or MS/MA/MBA is highly desirable.
Related Experience Required:
- 3 years of experience in an HR analytical role with focus on retirement plans (defined benefit and defined contributions plans).
- Experience working with retirement plan vendors, audits, and compliance processes.
- Working knowledge of retirement plan regulations (ERISA, IRS, DOL).
