Post-Doctoral Research Fellow – Functional Genomics

Mass General Brigham · Boston, MA · 1 mo ago
Analyst$70k–$72k/yrFull-time

Principal Duties And Responsibilities

The Postdoctoral Fellow will have the opportunity to work in a unique translational genomics environment within the CGM, which seeks to integrate computational genomics, technology development, and molecular genomics methods. At the Broad Institute, these collaborative projects span the Stanley Center for Psychiatric Research, and the Program in Medical and Population Genetics. Candidates will work with cutting-edge data types like single-cell transcriptome sequencing, Hi-C studies of 3D topology, ATACseq, 4Cseq, and other datasets in iPSC-derived neurons and organoid models of neurodevelopment. They will develop systematic computational frameworks for the integration and mechanistic interpretation of large-scale genomics datasets, synthesizing multi-omics signals into coherent biological models that reveal the molecular underpinnings of disease. These efforts will drive the identification and prioritization of high-confidence targets for downstream molecular investigation and therapeutic development.

The Postdoctoral Fellow will be based at MGH under the guidance and mentorship of Dr. Michael. Talkowski.

Qualifications

  • SKILLS & COMPETENCIES REQUIRED: The ideal candidate should have received (or expect to receive soon) a Ph.D. in human genetics, quantitative genetics, computational biology, bioinformatics, and/or computer science. Competitive candidates will have a strong background in human genetics, statistical genetics, and/or computational biology, and prior exposure to genome and transcriptome sequencing datasets. Candidates will need excellent interpersonal skills to work in a highly collaborative team science environment across institutions. First (or co-first) author of one or more peer-reviewed scientific publications
  • Excellent English verbal and written communication skills
  • Able to work both independently and in a team
  • Experience with commonly used bioinformatics tools and databases
  • Programming skills (i.e. R, Python, C++, etc.)
  • Advanced knowledge of statistical methods
  • Expertise in analyzing next-generation sequencing data (i.e. WGS, WES, RNAseq, ATACseq, ChIP-seq, scRNAseq etc.)
