Job Summary
The Debold Muscle Biophysics Lab is seeking a full-time Postdoctoral Research Associate in the Kinesiology Department. This position supports a five-year NIH grant studying muscle contraction, intracellular transport, and complex cellular structures. The goal is to understand how myosin proteins enable complex cellular processes.
Essential Functions
- Protein purification and preparation
- Fluorescence microscopy and data collection
- Data analysis from laser trap and in vitro motility assays
- Figure preparation and presentations
- Manuscript writing for high impact journals
Minimum Qualifications
- PhD in Kinesiology or related STEM field
- Demonstrated ability to publish in biophysics or related fields
- Ability to establish cooperative working relationships
- Organizational skills to manage large data sets
- High level of independence and reliability
- Experience expressing and preparing proteins for functional assays
- Knowledge of fluorescence microscopy techniques
- Proficiency with MatLab, R, or related software
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with single molecule laser trap assay
- Experience isolating and expressing proteins
- Knowledge of fluorescence microscopy techniques including epi, TIRF, and STORM
- Proficiency with LabView software
- Ability to rapidly learn new software platforms
Additional Details
- Full-time position (40 hours per week)
- Variable work schedule with some evenings and weekends required
- Position requires working in a standard office or indoor university environment
- Salary range based on experience: $62,838-$65,138 for 0-2 years of postdoc experience, $66,287-$67,437 for 3-4 years of postdoc experience
