About the role

The University of Georgia is a public research university founded in 1785 and is the flagship institution of the University System of Georgia. It is located in Athens, approximately 65 miles northeast of Atlanta, and has a diverse student body of over 41,000, including over 31,000 undergraduates and over 10,000 graduate and professional students. The university offers more than 80 degree programs across 40+ departments, including its newly established School of Medicine.

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Lead and conduct research projects in cancer immunotherapy and nanomedicine, including experimental design, execution, troubleshooting, and interpretation of results.
  • Perform and oversee in vivo and in vitro studies, including animal studies, therapeutic efficacy evaluations, immune profiling, molecular biology assays, and mechanistic investigations.
  • Analyze and interpret experimental and sequencing datasets; prepare figures, reports, and presentations.
  • Prepare manuscripts, grant-related documents, and other scholarly publications arising from funded research projects.
  • Train and mentor graduate and undergraduate students in research techniques, experimental design, and data analysis.

Qualifications

  • PhD required in relevant field such as cancer immunology, molecular biology, or related areas.
  • Advanced expertise in tumor immunology, animal models of cancer, molecular and cellular biology, and high-dimensional data analysis.
  • Experience in designing, executing, and interpreting preclinical studies evaluating novel immunotherapeutic and nanomedicine-based approaches for cancer treatment.
  • Ability to coordinate and conduct complex in vivo and in vitro experiments, including therapeutic efficacy studies, immune profiling, sequencing-based analyses, and mechanistic investigations.
  • Strong communication and mentoring skills, including scientific leadership within the laboratory by mentoring graduate and undergraduate students.
  • Specialized training and independent research capabilities required for these responsibilities necessitate a postdoctoral-level appointment.
