Post Adoption Resource Center Family Worker

About the role

The Post Adoption Resource Center (PARC) at Judson Center is seeking a Family Worker to provide support to families involved in adoptions or guardianships. Founded in 1924, Judson Center serves thousands of children, adults, and families annually across five counties in Michigan.

Responsibilities

• Provides referred families with a description of the range of available services through the Post Adoption Resource Center.
• Develops a family-centered plan and a termination report.
• Serves as a liaison for the family regarding identifying and accessing community resources and other service providers.
• Maintains regular contact with referred families including at bi-weekly in-person contact.
• Develops closure plans to address any additional unmet needs of the family.
• Provides individualized assistance for families requesting or in need of applying for or negotiating educational services.
• Initiates information and referral services to all families.
• Provides families with relevant educational materials, resources, and literature.
• Participates in required trainings and professional development opportunities.
• Attends all scheduled team meetings.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Prior experience working with adoptive parents and the adoption process preferred.
• Experience providing in-home services and/or working directly with children and their families in various settings, including child welfare, schools, juvenile justice, and mental health preferred.
• Understanding of basic needs, social, cultural and religious differences in families' required.
• Ability to provide culturally competent services that shows sensitivity to the service population’s cultural and socioeconomic characteristics.
• A bachelor’s degree in the field of human services.
• Valid Michigan Driver’s License, appropriate insurance and use of own vehicle.
