About the role

The Director – Corporate, Specialty and Government PM is a senior portfolio management role responsible for managing a portfolio of commercial loans within the Corporate, Specialty, and Government Banking group. This role focuses on underwriting quality, portfolio monitoring, and portfolio administration for an assigned portfolio, with a specific emphasis on restaurant and fitness center franchises.

The Director will collaborate with internal partners such as Relationship Management, Credit Administration, Capital Markets, Treasury Management, and other product partners to optimize customer relationships. This role is viewed as a subject matter expert in the covered industry.

Responsibilities

  • Underwrite complex commercial loans in accordance with Huntington credit policies.
  • Monitor a portfolio of commercial loans, proactively identifying emerging risks and escalating issues as needed.
  • Handle portfolio administration, including management of delinquencies, collateral exceptions, borrowing base and covenant compliance, product renewals, etc.
  • Attend client calls (virtual or in-person) with Relationship Management and other Bank partners, establishing positioning as the secondary bank contact for the portfolio of covered clients.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of market and industry trends, conducting industry and market research using available resources.
  • Assist with training and/or mentoring Analyst, Associate, and Associate Director level colleagues.
  • Provide accurate and timely front-end guidance to Relationship Management colleagues, leveraging knowledge of Huntington credit policies and credit culture.
  • Review and negotiate credit documentation in consultation with legal counsel.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree.
  • 8+ years of experience in an underwriting or commercial banking environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Formal credit training.
  • Experience in the syndicated loan market.
  • High level of professionalism and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, particularly Microsoft Excel.

This is an office-based role with the potential for a flexible work arrangement, combining in-office and work-from-home opportunities. Specific work arrangements will be provided by the hiring team.

Exempt Status: Yes (not eligible for overtime pay).
