Portfolio Manager - Franchise Banking Director
About the role
The Director – Corporate, Specialty and Government PM is a senior portfolio management role responsible for managing a portfolio of commercial loans within the Corporate, Specialty, and Government Banking group. This position focuses on underwriting quality, portfolio monitoring, and administration while collaborating with internal partners such as Relationship Management, Credit Administration, Capital Markets, and Treasury Management to optimize customer relationships. The Director is viewed as a subject matter expert in their industry.
Responsibilities
- Underwrite complex commercial loans in accordance with Huntington credit policies.
- Monitor a portfolio of commercial loans, proactively identifying emerging risks and escalating concerns.
- Administer the portfolio, including managing delinquencies, collateral exceptions, borrowing base and covenant compliance, product renewals, and other applicable tasks.
- Attend client calls (virtual or in-person) with Relationship Management and other Bank partners, establishing positioning as the secondary bank contact for covered clients.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of market and industry trends, conducting research using available resources.
- Assist with training and mentoring Analyst, Associate, and Associate Director level colleagues.
- Provide accurate and timely front-end guidance to Relationship Management colleagues based on Huntington credit policies and culture.
- Review and negotiate credit documentation in consultation with legal counsel.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree.
- 8+ years of experience in underwriting or commercial banking.
Preferred Qualifications
- Formal credit training.
- Experience in the syndicated loan market.
- Proficiency in S&P Capital IQ.
- High level of professionalism and attention to detail.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, particularly Microsoft Excel.

This is an office-based role with potential eligibility for a flexible work arrangement, combining in-office and remote work. Specific arrangements will be provided by the hiring team.
Exempt Status: Yes (not eligible for overtime pay).
