Porter/General Maintenance

About the role

The General Maintenance Technician at Avison Young is responsible for minor building and grounds repairs, maintaining the cleanliness of the building, and assisting the Building Management with special projects.

Responsibilities

• Walk-throughs of tenant and common areas, reporting any maintenance issues in addition to the general appearance.
• General maintenance, orderliness, and cleanliness to ensure the properties and equipment in the buildings are always in good working order.
• Afford assistance to Building Management with any special projects.
• Minor plastering and painting as needed.
• Minor plumbing which includes fixing leaks, washers, and minor pipe replacements.
• Minor repairs and/or replacements to doors, locks, and hinges.
• Ensure management team is informed of current building operations and any issues or concerns.
• Immediate response to emergency situations (fire, evacuation, equipment failure, etc.) and tenant concerns.
• Comply with all applicable codes, regulations, governmental agency, and company directives as related to building operations and practicing safe work habits.

Requirements

• High School diploma or GED; some college a plus.
• 5+ years of related experience in a commercial property.
• Graduate of apprentice program or trade school is a plus.

• Must be dependable, reliable and possess good time management skills.
• Must be proactive and can work autonomously.
• Excellent management skills and ability to work with all levels of employees, tenants, and vendors.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Skills

• Basic knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office (Outlook email).
