Porter

About the role

The porter is responsible for ensuring all key areas in the warehouse are clean and safe for customers and employees, including addressing any liquids or substances that may pose a hazard. The role involves maintaining Sanitation and Cleaning Logs with routine daily verification and ensuring all cleaning equipment complies with the company’s HACCP program. Additional tasks may be assigned by the branch manager, such as minor paint touch-ups, cleaning wet pallets, and general maintenance of lighting.

Responsibilities

• General sweeping of interior and exterior building premises.
• Cleaning and maintenance of all restrooms in the facility.
• Cleaning windows, doors, and the coffee area as needed.
• Maintenance of all trash containers on premises.
• Operation of trash compactor, cardboard baler, and floor scrubbing machine as needed.
• Cleanup of spills in the warehouse.
• Cleaning of the employee break room as scheduled.
• Assisting department managers with aisle cleaning as needed.
• Ensuring all HACCP guidelines and Sanitation logs are verified as outlined.
• Assisting management with other assigned duties as needed.

Requirements

• Good communication skills.
• Understanding of basic sanitation guidelines.
• Basic knowledge of operating floor machines, balers, and compactors is helpful.
• Ability to lift 50 pounds.
