About the role

Building cleaning workers—including porters, janitors, maids, housekeeping cleaners, window washers, and rug shampooers—keep the premises of commercial or institutional buildings in clean and orderly condition. The role involves a variety of cleaning, maintenance, and support tasks to ensure a high‑quality living environment for residents.

Responsibilities

• Clean offices, bathrooms, hallways, lobbies, lounges, rest rooms, corridors, elevators, stairways, locker rooms, and other work areas.
• Wet‑ or dry‑mop floors, shampoo rugs, wash walls and glass, remove rubbish, pressure‑wash, and remove gum and graffiti.
• Perform minor repairs, painting, carpentry, replenish bathroom supplies, landscaping, and snow removal.
• Sweep, scrub, wax, and polish floors, lighting fixtures, marble surfaces, and trim.
• Clean rugs, carpets, upholstered furniture, and draperies.
• Dust furniture and equipment.
• Replace light bulbs.
• Transport small equipment or tools between departments.
• Set up tables and chairs in auditoriums, meeting rooms, or halls.

Requirements

• High School Diploma / GED, or equivalent work experience.
• Less than 1 year of prior experience working on a commercial or multi‑unit residential property.
