About the role

This position provides speech, language, cognitive, and dysphagia services upon referral or prescription of a physician according to established procedures and protocols. The speech language pathologist evaluates, develops, and performs treatment programs for patients with programs individualized to developmental age in a safe and timely manner. The speech language pathologist delivers care in a prompt and professional manner, always maintaining the highest level of confidentiality and respect. Works as part of the care team to meet the needs of the customer and to support departmental objectives.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates knowledge and clinical competency with speech therapy assessment skills, treatment implementation, and proficiency with modalities.
• Evaluates, develops, and performs individualized treatment programs for patients based on developmental age.
• Delivers care in a prompt and professional manner, maintaining confidentiality and respect.
• Works as part of the care team to meet patient needs and support departmental objectives.

Requirements

• Master’s degree in Speech Pathology from an accredited program.
• Licensed in the State of New Jersey.
• Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers (BLS-HCP) certification required.
• Prior experience preferred but not required.
• Proficiency in Clinical Applications preferred at time of hire; training will be provided within 30-60 days.

Work Environment

• Potential exposure to hazards and risks of the hospital environment, including infectious disease, blood-borne pathogens, and hazardous substances.
• Requires standing for much of the day and extensive patient assistance, support, and lifting.
• Requires the ability to lift greater than 50 pounds.

This position reports to the Director of Rehab Services.
