Position Details Title: Polymer Process Operator IISchedule: Team A: 5:45 am – 6:00 pm - Tuesday through FridayIdeal Candidates: The ideal candidate will have previous experience in a chemical or pharmaceutical production environment with prior forklift experience.Location: Cherry Hill, NJ (08002)Salary Range: $25.00-$26.00 hourly, based on experience and qualifications. Plus, shift differential. Position Overview And Expectations The Reactor Operator receives assignments from Shift Supervisors, Process Engineer and/or Department Manager via notes in the logs, other written correspondence or personally. Work will also be reviewed and approved by this same group. S/he has high standards regarding quality and maximizing productivity. Essential Functions Read batch cards and record all information required, both written and electronically within the ERP systemsMeasure amounts of products or weights of filled containers to ensure conformance to specificationsMix ingredients according to specified procedures and formulasOperate various pieces of process equipment related to the specific job function such as batch tanks, blenders, pumps, compressors, etc.May operate PLC control systemsObserves production and monitors equipment to ensure safe and efficient operationRoutinely works from formulas, charts, tables, and schedules.Reads gauges and charts and records all data/work in required log(s)Monitor and control temperaturesMonitor and control rotating equipmentMonitor and control pressuresMeasure massMonitor and control mass/volumetric flowFollows Standard Operating Procedures and work instructionsResponsible for maintaining proper records to avoid efficiency losses and cross-contamination of other productsResponds quickly to process upsets to prevent production and quality losses, safety hazards, and OSHA-EPA violationsCompletes batch paperwork and maintains accurate inventory through cycle counts and proper electronic and physical transactionsCollects “in-process” samples for quality control testingUnderstands how process variables affect product quality; identify and correct situations which may lower product qualityCleaning of processing equipment, including lines, parts and vessels/tanks, etc.Operate various pieces of process equipment related to the specific job function such as batch tanks, blenders, pumps, compressors, etc. with minimal to no supervisionCleaning of processing equipment, including lines, parts and vessels/tanks, etc. with minimal to no supervisionTroubleshoots process equipment with minimal to no supervisionProvides detailed information on problems, observations and action to other technicians, lead technicians, engineers, and the plant manager through written logs, data sheets and /or personal contact.Safely handle and transfer flammable/combustible materialsSafely handles organic peroxidesSuggests process improvements such as equipment modifications and procedure changesMinimum 2 years’ experience as a reactor or similar manufacturing operator2 years’ forklift experience with certification EHS Adheres to wearing the proper PPE/Safety equipment at all timesMaintains the highest level of housekeepingUnderstands and complies with all written safety, health and environmental proceduresAttends all required scheduled Health, Safety and Environmental training sessionsParticipates in required Health, Safety and Environmental initiatives and programsPerforms required administrative functions related to Health, Safety and Environmental functions such as completing forms, checklists and log sheets Qualifications Minimum 18 years of ageFluent with the English languageAbility to understand and follow procedures/directions both written and verbalAbility to be available to work overtime as neededMath skills – Ability to convert lbs., grams, kilos, ounces, liters, etc... utilizing basic math skillsBasic computer user skillsBasic knowledge working with MS Office (Word, Excel, PP, Outlook)Good interpersonal skillsOrganized and high attention to detailAbility to operate basic hand toolsReactor or similar manufacturing operator experience – 0 to 2 yearsForklift experience – 0 to 2 years Preferred Skills Independently operates various pieces of process equipment related to the specific job function such as batch tanks, blenders, pumps, compressors, etc. without supervisionIndependently cleans processing equipment, including lines, parts and vessels/tanks, etc. without supervisionIndependently troubleshoots all process equipment without supervisionRecommends and initiates data gathering techniques to resolve problems or improve effectiveness of operationsTrains other personnel in the departmentDemonstrated ability to run an automated process using a distributed control system (DCS)Minimum 4 years’ experience as a reactor or similar manufacturing operatorDemonstrated mechanical abilityDemonstrated leadership abilitySelf-directed and ability to work independently Physical Demands and Work Environment Physical Demands: Employee is required to walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; balance; stoop; bend; kneel and climb; and lift/move up to 50 lbs. on a daily basis. In addition, must be able to maneuver and move 30 to 55 gallon drums or up to 450 pounds utilizing the proper drum material handling equipment provided and/or proper techniques.Work Environment: This position requires one to work in a manufacturing facility. There is a moderate level of noise, heat, cold, dust, and dirt. Employee frequently works near moving mechanical equipment and chemicals and will be exposed to varying temperatures.
