Polisher - Brasserie Boulud - New York
Position Summary
The Polisher plays an essential role in delivering an exceptional guest experience by ensuring all china, glassware, flatware, and serving pieces are impeccably cleaned, polished, and presentation-ready. Working closely with the stewarding, dining room, and culinary teams, the Polisher helps maintain the highest standards of cleanliness, organization, and quality throughout service.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Polish and inspect all glassware, silverware, china, and serving pieces to ensure they are spotless and free of watermarks, fingerprints, chips, or defects.
- Maintain adequate inventory of polished serviceware for all meal periods and special events.
- Organize polished items in designated storage areas according to restaurant standards.
- Communicate with the front-of-house and stewarding teams to anticipate service needs and replenish supplies throughout the shift.
- Absorb damaged or unusable items from circulation and notify management.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary polishing station at all times.
- Follow all food safety, sanitation, and workplace safety procedures.
- Assist the stewarding team with dishwashing or other operational tasks when business needs require.
- Support restaurant opening, closing, and side work responsibilities.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in a restaurant, hotel, or hospitality environment preferred.
- Fine dining experience is a plus.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Able to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Able to work independently while contributing to a team-oriented environment.
- Reliable, punctual, and professional in appearance and conduct.
- Must be able to communicate effectively with team members.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Frequently lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to bend, reach, stoop, and perform repetitive hand motions.
- Comfortable working in hot, wet, and fast-paced environments.
- Availability to work mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays as business demands.
