Key Responsibilities

  • Install, troubleshoot, and maintain specialized police vehicle equipment: Emergency lighting systems (LED light bars, strobes, etc.), sires, radios, antennas, and communication systems, in-vehicle computer systems (MDTs/laptops), prisoner transport partitions and safety cages, weapon and equipment mounting systems.
  • Remove existing interior, wire, and integrate systems into vehicle electrical networks, ensuring clean, safe, and functional installations.
  • Perform fabrication tasks such as mounting brackets, drilling, and custom panel installation.
  • Diagnose and resolve electrical issues related to up-fitted components.
  • Maintain accurate records of work performed, equipment installed, and vehicle status.
  • Ensure all work meets applicable codes, safety standards, and department specifications.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
  • 2+ years of experience in automotive electrical work, vehicle up-fitting, or related fields.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting wiring diagrams and schematics.
  • Strong understanding of 12V/24V DC systems and electrical safety.
  • Ability to use hand and power tools with precision.
  • Attention to detail and strong problem-solving skills.
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift 50 lbs.
  • Frequent standing, bending, kneeling, and working in confined spaces.
  • Manual dexterity and ability to work with small components.
