Responsibilities

  • Install emergency lighting, sirens, radios, cameras, and warning systems.
  • Perform complete upfits on police, fire, EMS, and specialty response vehicles.
  • Install consoles, partitions, cargo systems, slide-outs, and mounting solutions.
  • Read and interpret wiring diagrams, schematics, and installation instructions.
  • Diagnose and repair electrical, mechanical, and accessory-related issues.
  • Perform preventative maintenance, repairs and service work on emergency vehicles and equipment.
  • Major repairs to fire pumps, plumbing, and accessories.
  • Conduct quality control inspections to ensure vehicles meet customer expectations and manufacturer standards.
  • Document work completed and maintain accurate service records.
  • Collaborate with team members and customers to complete projects efficiently.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment.

Requirements

  • Experience with automotive, truck, emergency vehicle, or equipment installation.
  • Knowledge of 12V electrical systems and diagnostic procedures.
  • Ability to use hand tools, power tools, and electrical testing equipment.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Mechanical aptitude and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Basic computer skills for documentation and communication.
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.

Bonus Skills

  • Experience with emergency vehicle upfitting.
  • Fire apparatus service.
  • Police vehicle equipment installation.
  • Welding and fabrication.
  • AC/DC systems.
  • Hydraulics or pneumatics.
  • ASE certifications.
  • EVT (Emergency Vehicle Technician) certifications.
  • CDL or willingness to obtain one.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly.
  • Ability to stand, bend, kneel, climb, and work in confined spaces.
  • Comfortable working with hand and power tools throughout the workday.
  • Ability to safely operate shop equipment and vehicles.
