Police Records Clerk

Responsibilities

• Assist the public and police department staff at the front counter or by phone, fax, and email to prepare, submit, and retrieve various types of records, including offense/accident reports, Open Records Requests, security clearances, warrants, affidavits, and protective orders.
• Scan documents to electronic storage programs.
• Prepare daily cash reports and deposits.
• Prepare, proofread, and revise complex police reports and various legal documents.
• Answer and route telephone calls.
• Perform general office tasks.
• Coordinate and schedule classes, meetings, and group sessions.
• Set up meeting rooms for scheduled events.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Six months of general clerical experience.
• Previous municipal experience and bilingual (English/Spanish) skills are beneficial.
• Must pass a thorough background check, including a polygraph exam and criminal history check.
• No criminal conviction above the grade of a Class B misdemeanor or any Class B misdemeanor within the past 10 years; other convictions may also be considered.
• Access to sensitive Criminal Justice Information Systems (CJIS).
• Must submit hours of availability with application; attaching a résumé is preferred.

Schedule

Hours may include evenings and weekends; some schedules will include mandatory evening hours.

Pay

Pay Grade GG11 / Full pay range: $18.81–$26.52 per hour.
