Duties

  • Assigned to a school as a school resource officer
  • Conduct victim, witness, and suspect interviews
  • Prepare detailed police reports
  • Make arrests
  • Testify in court
  • Interact with community members
  • Perform other police functions as assigned and as needed

Requirements

  • Former police officer with no more than two years separation from previous employment
  • US citizen
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Pass a physical agility test
  • Valid Virginia driver's license with no more than six demerit points in the past twelve months or a DUI conviction within the past four years
  • Binocular vision of 20/25 corrected
  • Weight in proportion to height
  • No conviction of felonies and/or habitual misdemeanors
  • No conviction of, or guilty plea or no contest plea to, any misdemeanor sex offense or any domestic assault
  • Pass an extensive background investigation, including a polygraph, psychological, medical, and drug screening
  • Pre-employment drug testing, FBI criminal background check, and education/degree verification required

Qualifications

  • Must be a former police officer with no more than two years separation from previous employment

Pay

This position pays $54.00 per hour.

Schedule

Shifts are scheduled according to assignment needs to provide full-time operational hours exclusively during academic sessions up to a maximum of 1,456 hours annually.
