About the role

The City of Huntsville’s Police Department is seeking qualified applicants for a Police Officer (Part-Time School Resource Officer) position. This role works as a liaison between the Huntsville Police Department and Huntsville City Schools, conducting public safety training programs and performing specialized investigations.

Responsibilities

  • Plans, develops, conducts, and coordinates a wide variety of Public Safety training programs for the City of Huntsville schools.
  • Provides information to the public.
  • Interviews and counsels juveniles and parents.
  • Performs complex and specialized investigations such as juvenile, vice, narcotics, crimes against persons, and crimes against property.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED certificate from a regionally accredited institution.
  • APOSTC certified law enforcement officer who honorably retired in good standing with no pending disciplinary action.
  • Specific requirements as stipulated by the Alabama Peace Officer Handbook: Training Commission and other legal criteria as required.
  • Valid Driver's License.

Qualifications

  • Minimum Education: High school diploma or GED certificate.
  • Training: Must successfully complete a pre-employment supplemental application and a pre-employment polygraph examination.
  • Experience: Must meet specific requirements as stipulated by the Alabama Peace Officer Handbook: Training Commission and other legal criteria as required.
