School Resource Officer I

Minimum Salary: $48,466 annually
Maximum Salary: $77,728 annually

• Minimum Qualifications:
  • Georgia POST Basic Law Enforcement certification required
  • Criminal history, psychological, and polygraph screenings completed
  • Valid Georgia driver’s license
  • Associate degree in a related field required or must be obtained within three years of hire
  • Five years of law enforcement experience required
• Key Skills:
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • Effective collaboration with students, educators, families, and community members
  • Instruction on safety, law, citizenship, and crime prevention
• Primary Responsibilities:
  • Partner with administrators and staff to maintain a safe and secure learning environment
  • Act as a liaison between the school and local law enforcement agencies
  • Proactively plan for and respond to safety concerns
  • Aid in emergency preparedness and drills
  • Provide guidance on legal matters
  • Build positive relationships with students to reduce juvenile delinquency
  • Maintain appropriate documentation
  • Support investigations when necessary
  • Act as a visible, trusted role model within the school community
• Physical Requirements:
  • Meet law enforcement physical standards
  • Respond to emergencies
  • Restrain individuals when necessary
  • Lift up to 100 pounds
  • Operate a motor vehicle in the performance of duties

Minimum Salary: $58,898 annually
Maximum Salary: $90,582 annually
