Hiring Information

Hiring Range: $59,924.80-$66,060.80
Starting Salary: May be adjusted depending on experience.

Qualifications

  • Possession of law enforcement certification from Peace Officers Standards and Training (POST) in any State.
  • Applicants possessing a State of Alabama POST Certification must be three (3) years or more past graduation date listed on APOST certificate.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license and the ability to obtain/maintain a City of Hoover Driver's Permit.
  • Ability to pass a thorough background check.
  • Preferred Qualification: Fluent in Spanish.

Responsibilities

  • Performs a variety of law enforcement duties in the preservation of public peace and prevention of crimes.
  • Enforces all laws and ordinances.
  • Investigates crimes and accidents.
  • Makes arrests.
  • Provides credible testimony in various courts.
  • Conducts traffic surveys to determine problem areas.
  • Assists in school and community functions.
  • Conducts public relations activities.
  • Other cases as assigned.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Fluent in Spanish.
