Minimum Qualifications

• Training & Experience - High school graduate or GED equivalent (college credit is preferred).
• Necessary Special Requirements - Must possess current, valid Colorado Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) certification by date of hire or be currently enrolled in a law enforcement academy. Out of state applicants must provide proof of current peace officer certification, and must obtain a Colorado POST provisional certification by date of hire. Candidates must successfully challenge the Colorado POST certification within 6 months of hire
• Cannot have been convicted of a felony or a disqualifying misdemeanor involving moral turpitude;
• Possess and maintain valid driver's license with the ability to obtain a valid Colorado driver's license and safe driving record for continued employment;
• Must be at least 21 years of age.
• Must be able to obtain valid American Red Cross Standard First Aid and CPR certifications.

Working Conditions

• The employee is required to wear body armor while performing the duties of this job.
• The employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts; in high, precarious places; and with explosives and is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, extreme cold, extreme heat, and vibration.
• Work involves a significant amount of time spent in a patrol vehicle and a high degree of exposure to hazards and danger (from traffic hazards to the danger inherent in working with career criminals and emotionally unstable persons).
• This position also involves shift work including weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed.
• The noise level in the work environment is moderately noisy.

• The employee is frequently required to sit and talk or hear.
• The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; run; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and taste or smell.
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
• The physical demands category is classified as Very Heavy (Exert in excess of 100 lbs. of force occasionally, and/or in excess of 50 lbs. of force frequently, and/or in excess of 20 lbs. of force constantly to move objects).
