Police Officer (hired 1/1/15 or after)

About the role

A Police Officer has a thorough knowledge of laws and ordinances of the State, County, and City. A Police Officer shall preserve the public peace, protect life and property, prevent crime, enforce all laws, and may make forceful arrest of violators of the law, as well as carry out additional assigned tasks.

Responsibilities

• Patrols City in radio car, motorcycle, bicycle or on foot;
• answers calls for the protection of life and property, and the enforcement of City, County, and State laws;
• patrols business districts at night and checks doors and windows of business firms;
• investigates suspicious persons and circumstances;
• checks doors and windows in homes of citizens on vacation.

Requirements

• Possession of an appropriate California Operator’s License issued by the State Department of Motor Vehicles.
• Appropriate P.O.S.T. Training Certificate by date of appointment.

Qualifications

• Education: High school graduation or GED equivalent.
