Police Communications Operator

About the role

New College of Florida is seeking a Police Communications Operator to join their team in Sarasota, Florida. The position operates dispatch phones, radio and computer systems in a public safety communications center.

Responsibilities

• Operate dispatch phones, radio and computer systems in a public safety communications center involving computerized radio dispatching.
• Provide certification in NCIC/FCIC computer system and receive 911 telecommunications certification with training provided within the first year of employment.
• Some shift work including days, nights, weekends and holidays.
• A shift differential of $2.00 per hour may be available to employees working 6:00PM – 6:00AM.

Requirements

• A high school diploma or GED.
• One year of appropriate experience which can include college coursework or vocational/technical training.
• Proficiency in typing.
• Ability to effectively communicate and function in high stress situations.
