About the role
New College of Florida is seeking a Police Communications Operator to join their team in Sarasota, Florida. The position operates dispatch phones, radio and computer systems in a public safety communications center.
Responsibilities
- Operate dispatch phones, radio and computer systems in a public safety communications center involving computerized radio dispatching.
- Provide certification in NCIC/FCIC computer system and receive 911 telecommunications certification with training provided within the first year of employment.
- Some shift work including days, nights, weekends and holidays.
- A shift differential of $2.00 per hour may be available to employees working 6:00PM – 6:00AM.
Requirements
- A high school diploma or GED.
- One year of appropriate experience which can include college coursework or vocational/technical training.
- Proficiency in typing.
- Ability to effectively communicate and function in high stress situations.
Qualifications
This position is eligible for Veteran’s Preference.
