Police Communications Officer

About the role

The Police Communications Officer (PCO) plays a crucial role in maintaining the Security Operations Center, dispatching police and emergency services, and monitoring CCTV cameras. They uphold the GPA’s core values and promote a safe work environment.

Responsibilities

• Maintains strict access to the Security Operations Center and protects CJIS database terminals.
• Dispatches police and emergency services using radios and computer-aided dispatch equipment.
• Processes and prioritizes emergency and non-emergency calls from various sources.
• Maintains accurate status and locations of department personnel and equipment.
• Accesses and enters sensitive data in local/state/national databases for investigative purposes.

Requirements

• Must be able to stand or sit for prolonged periods, work rotating shifts, holidays, and weekends.
• Must be able to write clearly and spell correctly, and have legible handwriting.
• Must have the ability to type and use computerized word processing and scanning equipment.
• Must be able to remain composed and conduct behavior in a professional manner during difficult or stressful situations.
