Police Chief-The City of Cedar Hill (TX)

The City of Cedar Hill, proudly known as “The Natural Heart of the Metroplex,” is seeking a Police Chief to join our City family. This leader will guide our high-performing police department in a city deeply rooted in community connection and support.

About the role

This position is responsible for leading the Cedar Hill Police Department in maintaining public safety, enforcing laws, and ensuring the well-being of the community. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, a commitment to community policing, and a passion for public service.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the day-to-day operations of the police department, including personnel management, budgeting, and policy development.
• Develop and implement strategies to enhance community-police relations and improve public trust.
• Ensure compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements, including federal, state, and local laws.
• Manage crisis situations and emergency response efforts, coordinating with other city departments and external agencies as necessary.
• Collaborate with community leaders and organizations to address crime prevention and public safety issues.

Requirements

• A bachelor’s degree in criminal justice, law enforcement, or a related field.
• A minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible law enforcement experience, including at least 5 years as a supervisory level officer.
• A valid Texas Peace Officer’s Certification.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, along with the ability to work effectively with diverse groups and community stakeholders.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with law enforcement software systems.

• Proven leadership abilities and a track record of successfully managing complex operations.
• Experience in community policing and building positive relationships with the community.
• Knowledge of current trends in law enforcement and the ability to adapt to new challenges.

Pay
