Police Chief

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

• Schedule officers to meet event-based calendar
• Manage squad car maintenance for the Police Department
• Submit officers' semi-annual hours to ILETSB
• Manage department accreditation
• Attend Safety Committee meetings
• Work with local agencies for emergency drills and training
• Ensure safety during events
• Handle disturbances and problems during events
• Escort disruptive individuals if necessary
• Complete incident reports
• Maintain crowd control during emergencies

Qualifications

• Must be an active or retired police officer
• Must be current on ILETSB Police Training and maintain certification
• Previous training on directing vehicle and pedestrian traffic
• Ability to operate and effectively communicate on a radio
• Handle conflicts, make decisions, and exercise proper judgment
• Effective negotiation and mediation skills
• Strong customer service skills
• Maintain high standards of business ethics

Physical Demands

• Regularly move around the facility
• Stand for long hours during events
• Talk and hear
• May work inside or outside the building as needed by events

Pay Information

$35/HR

This is a part-time non-exempt position working on an event-based schedule
