Police Cadet

About the role

The City of Lauderhill is sponsoring eligible candidates through the Police Academy. The purpose of this position is to prepare a non-certified applicant (Police Cadet) to receive the necessary training and education through The Law Enforcement Basic Recruit Training (Police Academy) to become a prospective Police Officer. The Police Academy prepares the cadet to become an entry-level law enforcement officer in the State of Florida.

Responsibilities

• Attends all required courses at the Police Academy.
• Performs routine office functions such as filing, faxing, answering phones, and copying.
• Performs related duties as directed.

Requirements

• Minimum age of 19 years.
• United States Citizen at time of application.
• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• No felony convictions or misdemeanor charges involving perjury or false statements.
• Good moral character as determined by a background investigation.
• Successfully passed the Basic Abilities Test (CJBAT or FBAT).
• Successfully passed the Physical Agility Test.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree or higher is not required for the Basic Abilities Test.
• DD214 for military service is required if applicable.
• Civilian employment with the Lauderhill Police Department is not required.
• Processed with the City of Lauderhill Police Department within the last twelve months is not required.
• No DUI arrests or convictions in the last five years.
• No five or more tickets for moving violations within the last five years.
• No use of tobacco products within the last twelve months.
• No use of drugs (controlled substances) within the last twelve months.

Schedule
