About the role
The City of Lauderhill is sponsoring eligible candidates through the Police Academy. The purpose of this position is to prepare a non-certified applicant (Police Cadet) to receive the necessary training and education through The Law Enforcement Basic Recruit Training (Police Academy) to become a prospective Police Officer. The Police Academy prepares the cadet to become an entry-level law enforcement officer in the State of Florida.
Responsibilities
- Attends all required courses at the Police Academy.
- Performs routine office functions such as filing, faxing, answering phones, and copying.
- Performs related duties as directed.
Requirements
- Minimum age of 19 years.
- United States Citizen at time of application.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- No felony convictions or misdemeanor charges involving perjury or false statements.
- Good moral character as determined by a background investigation.
- Successfully passed the Basic Abilities Test (CJBAT or FBAT).
- Successfully passed the Physical Agility Test.
Qualifications
- Associate's degree or higher is not required for the Basic Abilities Test.
- DD214 for military service is required if applicable.
- Civilian employment with the Lauderhill Police Department is not required.
- Processed with the City of Lauderhill Police Department within the last twelve months is not required.
- No DUI arrests or convictions in the last five years.
- No five or more tickets for moving violations within the last five years.
- No use of tobacco products within the last twelve months.
- No use of drugs (controlled substances) within the last twelve months.

Schedule
The ability to work eighty-four (84) hours per pay period, 12-hour shifts, weekends, and holidays.
