About the role

The Burlington Police Department is a nationally accredited law enforcement agency serving the City of Burlington, North Carolina. They are seeking candidates for the Basic Law Enforcement Training (BLET) program, which is scheduled to begin in July 2026 and January 2027.

Responsibilities

• Attend Basic Law Enforcement Training (BLET) classes at Alamance Community College.
• Participate in physical fitness training and role play scenarios.
• Take tests and complete coursework.
• Learn and model the Law Enforcement Code of Ethics.
• Work under a strict law enforcement hierarchy and established protocols.
• Develop proficiency in standard police radio broadcasting practices.
• Learns to operate computers and applicable software used in law enforcement environments.
• Build a strong training foundation.
• Stay engaged in classroom learning.
• Practice real-world policing skills.
• Embrace ethical and professional standards.

Qualifications

• Graduation from High School or GED Equivalency.
• Age 20 or older by the time you take the state exam in BLET.
• U.S. Citizenship.
• Valid North Carolina Driver's License.
• Certified in or currently attending Basic Law Enforcement Training (BLET).
• Willing to work rotating shifts, including days, nights, weekends, holidays, and occasional on-call.
