Police Cadet
The Auburn Hills Police Department (AHPD) provides professional law enforcement services to residents, businesses, students, and visitors in Auburn Hills. Accredited by the Michigan Association of Chiefs of Police, AHPD serves a 16.64-square-mile jurisdiction with over 25,000 residents, handling nearly 30,000 calls annually. The department emphasizes community policing and accountability.
About the Role
This is a part-time, non-sworn, uniform position in the Support Services Division. The Cadet Program exposes Criminal Justice college students to police work through training in Community Policing, Problem-Oriented Policing, and departmental opportunities. Cadets support department needs and maintain 24/7 front desk service.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Currently enrolled in a criminal justice program or related field (other programs require preapproval by the Chief of Police or designee).
- Valid driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record.
- Working knowledge of computers, electronic data processing, and modern police practices.
- Ability to communicate effectively, handle stressful situations, and interact with the public.
Pay
$17.00 per hour.
